Jean A. Czajkowski of Townsend passed away at her home on Sunday, May 18, 2008. She was 67.
She was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late William Henry Thursby and Laura Reigle Thursby.
She moved to the Smyrna area in 1968. Jean was employed as a nursing assistant for many years at the Delaware Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna. She retired in 1996 due to illness.
She was a member of St. Polycarp Catholic Parish, Smyrna, and she enjoyed crabbing, fishing, gardening, crocheting, and baking.
Her family was the most important part of her life, and she will be remembered as being a very caring and hardworking person.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Isabella Clark, and Verna Watts.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Joseph A. Czajkowski; a son, Joseph M. Czajkowski of Smyrna; two daughters, Janine Torres of Frederica and Joanne Cornell of Grand Rapids, Michigan; a sister, Laura DeVita of Isle of Palm, South Carolina; and six grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Thursday, May 22 at 11 a.m., at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, Ransom Lane and South Street, Smyrna, where friends were asked to call at 9:30 a.m., in the parish hall of the church. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery, Newark.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Polycarp Parish, 135 Ransom Lane, Smyrna, DE 19977.
