On August 20, 2008 at the age of 78 years, Wanda Lee Jeffrey of Middletown took her last breath on this earth and her first in the heavenly kingdom of God.

She was born on May 31, 1930 in Fayetteville, W.V. to Mary and Willard Jones.

On August 29, 1949 she met Leonard A. Jeffrey, and they were married 3 months and two days later, on December 2, 1949. Forever united by God, they spent the next 56 years raising a loving and devoted family of three boys and one girl. A full time homemaker, she raised her children in a caring and purposeful home. She instilled in her family the desire to succeed and excel in everything that they did in their lives.

She is pre-deceased by her husband Leonard who passed on in December of 2005. She is survived by her sister Betty Albert of Illinois; her brother Ted Jones of Baltimore; her four children, son Michael and wife Doris of Wilmington, daughter Patricia of Wilmington,  son David and Barbara of Newark, and son Bryant and wife Joanna of Middletown; her “adopted” daughter Anne of Wilmington, and six grand children, Michael, Matthew, Sarah, Zoe, Maggie and Luke.

As a mother she was a loving, caring and firm woman. As a wife she was dedicated, honest and true. As a person she was wonderful. How the angels must be rejoicing to see such a bright formerly earthbound spirit walk in their presence.

Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday,  August 25 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be 1 p.m. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
