On Saturday, August 16, Smyrna Police responded to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital because a patient reported that she had been raped in Smyrna. After interviewing the victim and hospital personnel, police confirmed that two men had sexual relations with the victim without her consent on the night of August 15.


On Saturday, August 16, Smyrna Police responded to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital because a patient reported that she had been raped in Smyrna.

After interviewing the victim and hospital personnel, police confirmed that two men had sexual relations with the victim without her consent on the night of August 15. 

The victim identified both men as acquaintances and gave investigators their names.

On Tuesday, August 19, police obtained warrants and arrested Charles A. Ford Jr., 22, of Smyrna and charged him with second-degree rape and second-degree conspiracy.  

The second suspect, Daniel L. Henry Jr., 22, of Dover, turned himself in at the Smyrna Police Department where he was also charged with second-degree rape and second-degree conspiracy.

Both men were processed at the Smyrna Police Department and presented at Justice of the Peace Court 2 by videophone. They were released after posting an $11,000 secured bond each to await another court appearance.
