    Attention amateur photographers! Entries are being accepted through Thursday, September 4 for the annual Sun-Times Fantastic Photographer Contest.
    The winning shots in five categories will be printed on the front page of the September 10 issue of the Sun-Times, and the runners-up will be printed inside.
    The categories are: landscape/scenery, animals/pets, portraits, sports/action, and funniest.


Special category
with $50 prize
    The Smyrna Downtown Renaissance Association is sponsoring a $50 prize to the winner of a special category, “Historic Smyrna,” for photos of buildings, homes, or street scenes with or without people in historic Smyrna. The winner and runner up will also be printed in the Sun-Times.


Contest rules
    Only prints will be accepted because several people, possibly in different locations, will be judging the photos. If you took digital shots, please print them.
    Only two photos per person per category will be allowed.
    Photos have to have been taken from August 2007 to August 2008.
    On the back of each photo, write the photographer’s name, age, town he/she lives in or near, the category, and a brief description of what’s in the photo, and the photographer’s phone number.
    Drop off or mail your photos to the Sun-Times office, 224 E. Glenwood Avenue, Smyrna, DE 19977.
    The deadline is Thursday, September 4 at 5 p.m.
    Note: Please do not enter one-of-a-kind photos for which you don’t have the negatives. We will try our best not to damage the photos, but it is possible they could get bent or scratched by a paper clip or something.
