Eva Brown is giving Smyrna-Clayton residents with a sweet tooth a chance to indulge their senses. That’s right, it’s “Candy Time.”

The new Candy Time shop opened on Saturday, November 8 in the Power City building on Glenwood Avenue, just east of Route 13 and 7-Eleven.

The store is owned by Eva Brown and her family. Eva works with her husband Bill, their two daughters Kelsey and Kaitlin, and son Will.

Originally from a small town in Scotland, Eva said her fondest childhood memory is walking to the local sweet shop and picking out her favorites. Owning her own candy store is something she’s dreamed about.

“I’ve always wanted to do this,” she said.

Smyrna’s small town feel is similar to her hometown in Scotland.

“I wanted a small store with that kind of small town charm with a modern twist,” Eva said. “I thought Smyrna needed this kind of candy store. It’s a good location and all of the stores are here. There’s more parking and it’s easy access.”

Candy Time offers bulk, novelty, and sugar free candy as well as classic favorites.

“I definitely wanted to sell the chocolates, the gourmet chocolates and truffles,” Eva said. “Kids can stop by and get not even a dollar’s worth and yet they’re getting a nice little bag worth of candy. I wanted to sell little novelty candy as well so if you only have a quarter in your pocket you can come in and find something to buy.”

Candy Time carries last minute gifts as well as sweet treats.

“If you need a quick gift for someone you can just come in and grab a balloon and a card and be on your way,” Eva said. “You don’t have to stop at three different stores. Then of course there’s the all occasion baskets.”

The store has pre-made gift baskets for all occasions and Eva can custom make baskets.

“I wanted people to be able to pick what they wanted in the basket,” she said. “It can be as large or as small as you want.”

Brown will soon offer chocolate covered coffee beans, chocolate covered raisins, and chocolate covered nuts.

Gift wrapping is also available.

“If you want to order a pound of truffles, I can gift wrap,” Eva said. “There are boxes and they can be wrapped in cellophane. And there’s bows and cards.”

Store hours are Monday through Friday 11-7, Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 11-3.
