Gilbert “Gill” Owen Hamilton of Clayton, Delaware, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 91.


Gilbert “Gill” Owen Hamilton of Clayton passed away Thursday, November 27, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 91.

Gill was born March 20, 1917 in Covington, Kentucky, the son of the late Lon Hamilton and Shirley Dickerson Hamilton.

He worked as an auto mechanic for several years before retiring.

Gill was a United States Air Force veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the VFW Post #652 in Millington, Maryland and the American Legion David C. Harrison Post #14 in Smyrna, Delaware.

Gill loved gardening and especially enjoyed growing tomatoes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Johnson Hamilton; a sister, Dorothy Myers of Cincinnati, Ohio; two step-son’s, Albert “Buck” Krupka of Clayton and William “Bill” Krupka and his wife Joy, also of Clayton; five grandchildren, Tony, Dean, Sherrie, Justin and Jessie Krupka; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be officiated by the Rev. Ron Wuest on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 12 noon in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware where friends may call Monday evening December 1, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover, Delaware.
