Elizabeth S. Gebhart of Smyrna passed away at home, Saturday, March 28, 2009. She was 99. Services will be Monday, March 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 22 North Union Street, Smyrna. Burial will be private.



    Elizabeth S. Gebhart of Smyrna passed away at home, Saturday, March 28, 2009. She was 99.
    Mrs. Gebhart was born November 6, 1909 in Laurel, the daughter of the late Frank and Beulah Sirman.
    She graduated from Laurel High School in 1928 and from the University of Delaware in 1932.
    After teaching school for several years in Laurel, she was married to Francis B. Gebhart and they moved to Smyrna.
    She was an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Smyrna, having served on the Vestry, the Altar Guild, Sunday School and was a member of the prayer group.
    Mrs. Gebhart always enjoyed her home, being with family and friends, reading, cooking and crafts.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, F.B. Gebhart in 1975.
    Mrs. Gebhart is survived by her daughter, Karen Gebhart; her son, Karl Gebhart and his wife, Gloria; a granddaughter, Karol Gebhart; two grandsons, Kyle Gebhart and his wife, Valarie, and Kirby Gebhart; her great-grandchildren, Melissa and Jennifer Foraker, Dylan Voss, Tyler and Alec Gebhart, Desiree Covaleski, and Raven Ward; and a cousin, Elaine Fowler.
    Services will be Monday, March 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 22 North Union Street, Smyrna. Burial will be private.
    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 22 North Union Street, Smyrna, DE 19977.
