A Newark man, wounded in a Tuesday shooting at the White Oak condominiums, has died, a Dover Police Department spokesman reported Friday morning.

The victim, identified as Quinton Dorsey, 33, died at approximately 10 a.m. March 25, said Lt. Tim Stump, commander of the department’s Criminal Investigations Unit.

The shooting took place shortly before 2:20 p.m. March 23, at the condo complex at 101 White Oak Road, Stump said.

“The victim was down when our officers arrived,” Stump said. “They described him as semi-conscious and his breathing was very shallow. The medics got there instantly and transported him to Bayhealth, and he was later flown to Christiana.”
Dorsey was in critical condition upon arrive at the Newark area hospital.

Investigators found numerous spent shell casings at the scene, Stump said, adding it appeared Dorsey had been hit numerous times. An autopsy, scheduled for March 26, should provide additional information, he added.

The suspects were described as two black men, one of whom sported dreadlocks; Stump said the men jumped a fence at the rear of the condo complex and fled in a silver or tan SUV that had been parked on Frear Drive.

“We have a number of leads we are following up,” Stump said when asked the status of the investigation. “I am confident it is just a matter of time.”
