Delaware State Police are looking for two men suspected of committing three robberies in the same day -- including two holdups at the same locale.
Delaware State Police are looking for two men they believe pulled off three robberies – including two committed at the same location.
The first two robberies occurred simultaneously as the two stores opened at 6 a.m. March 27, said police spokesman Sgt. Walter Newton. The stores were the Shore Stop/Valero locations at 1491 S. DuPont Highway and 1612 S. DuPont Highway, and are approximately one mile apart.
In both cases, the robbers demanded money from the clerks while brandishing large butcher knives, Newton said. Both fled the respective stores after obtaining cash and a supply of Dutch Master cigars.
Later in the day, at approximately 1:25 p.m., the store at 1491 S. DuPont Highway was again robbed by a man wielding a butcher knife who escaped with cash and Dutch Masters.
The suspects only were described as black men wearing dark clothing, Newton said. Police believe the second robbery was carried out by one of the men who committed the first two holdups.
In all three cases, the suspects were seen running toward the Rodney Village subdivision.
No one was injured in the robberies, Newton said.
Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call Troop 3 at 697-2105, ext. 305, or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or online at www.tipsubmit.com.
