  • Two seats on Smyrna Council will be up for a vote in Smyrna’s town election on Monday, April 26.
Polling will be open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Citizens’ Hose Company firehouse at 103 W. Commerce St. in Smyrna.
Three candidates are running for a 3-year at-large seat on Smyrna Town Council: sitting councilman Anthony H. DeFeo of Sunnyside Road, David C. Pleasanton of West Mt. Vernon Street and John S. Rhoades of Wheeler Circle. All voters who reside in Smyrna town limits can vote in elections for at-large council seats.
Two candidates are running for the town’s District 1 council seat: Regina I. Brown of North Main Street and Patricia Damestoir of North East Street. The voting for this seat is limited to resident of District 1, which mostly consists of the portions of town east of Main Street and Rt. 13.
Robert M. Novotny of Lake Drive West is unopposed for an at-large council seat with a term of one year. This seat was up for election to fill the final year remaining on the term started by former councilman Bill Pressley. Since Novotny is the only candidate, no election will be held for this seat.
