A Wilmington woman was arrested by State Police Wednesday, Sept. 22 after leaving a 1-year-old she was babysitting unattended in her car while shopping at Walmart.


A Wilmington woman was arrested by State Police Wednesday, Sept. 22 after leaving a 1-year-old she was babysitting unattended in her car while shopping at Walmart.

Police say concerned customers who saw the child alone in the car called police just before 1:30 p.m. Troopers found 25-year-old Erica Dugan inside the store, where they say she had been shopping for nearly an hour, and arrested her.

She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangering.

Dugan was arraigned and released on $2,000 unsecured bail.

The child was unharmed and was turned over to her mother.
