Delaware State Police arrested a 24-year-old Millsboro woman Thursday, Sept. 23 on charges that she stole items from elderly residents while she was employed at Brandywine Assisted Living in Selbyville.


Delaware State Police arrested a 24-year-old Millsboro woman Thursday, Sept. 23 on charges that she stole items from elderly residents while she was employed at Brandywine Assisted Living in Selbyville.

Holly A. Lathbury, an employee of Brandywine Assisted Living, allegedly is responsible for nine thefts at the facility that took place between Aug. 18 and 31.

Police said Lathbury entered the rooms of nine different victims and stole jewelry, money and miscellaneous items. The victims - all aged 82 to 89, one of whom is blind – reported items missing from their rooms.

Police learned, after viewing area pawn shop records, that Lathbury and other members of her family pawned items that were stolen. Most of those items had already been resold, but police were able to recover some items.

Lathbury was charged with 19 crimes, including eight counts of burglary second degree, seven counts of theft under $1,500 from a victim 62 years of age or older, two counts of theft $1,500 or greater from a victim 62 years of age or older, theft by false pretense under $1,500, and falsifying business records. She was released to await another court appearance after posting $6,450 bail.
