Patrolman Jason Knight stands accused of illegally obtaining prescription drugs
Dover police arrested one of thier own officers Oct. 22 and charged him with illegally obtaining prescription drugs on 12 seperate occasions
Patrolman Jason Knight, 28, was the subject of a three-week investigation by the department's Drugs, Vice, and Organized Crime Unit, said Capt. Tim Stump.
Knight, who had been on the job for six months, has been placed on adminstrative leave without pay and was released on a $12,000 unsecured bond after his arraignment.
Stump said Knight was hired in October of last year, completed his police academy training in the spring and was working on his own in the patrol division.
Knight passed a background check given to all new officers, Stump said, and had a clean job performance record during his short tenure on the force.
"Days like these are never pleasant, but it does come with the job," Stump said. "Over the years these types of things happen and we do our best to police them."
