Delaware State Police detectives charged a Middletown woman with stabbing her boyfriend during an argument near Townsend Saturday, Oct. 23.

The incident happened at a home in the 1300 block of Dexter Corner Road at about 1:33 a.m.

Police said an argument turned violent between Ashley T. Hart, 23, of Middletown and her boyfriend, a 20-year-old Townsend man.

The argument was allegedly about the victim wanting to end the relationship.

During the argument, Hart got a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in the upper right arm, leaving a single puncture wound, police said.

State Police responded to the scene and took Hart into custody.

The victim was taken to Christiana Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and was later released.

Hart was charged with second-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, police said. She was later released on $33,000 unsecured bond to await another court appearance.
