Changes to DART First State fixed route bus service will go into effect Dec. 5, and new bus schedules reflecting those changes will be available Nov. 29. There are four changes to Kent County routes and one intercounty service change.

Stephen B. Kingsberry, executive director of the Delaware Department of Transportation’s Delaware Transit Corporation, announced that the proposed changes to DART First State fixed route bus service have been approved. The changes will become effective Sunday, Dec. 5. New bus schedules will be available the week of Nov. 29.
Changes in Kent County include: 

Dover’s Water Street Transfer Center will relocate to the new Transit Center 3 blocks west on Water St. between Queen St. and West St. near Dover Police Station. Some routes will have minor time changes due to the relocation of the Dover Transit Center. Route 104 – route will terminate at Camden Wal-Mart, no longer serving Peachtree Run or Mifflin Meadows (Route 117 will continue to serve Mifflin Meadows on weekdays).  Transfer point between Rts. 104 & 117 will be at Camden Wal-Mart.  Mifflin Meadows will not be served on Saturdays. Route 117 – route will be extended to serve Peachtree Run and Camden Wal-Mart.  Transfer point between Rts. 104 & 117 will be at Camden Wal-Mart.

Intercounty Service:

Route 301 – minor time changes to improve on-time performance or connections with other buses.

DART First State is Delaware’s bus, train, and intermodal transportation provider. The Delaware Transit Corporation, a subsidiary of the Delaware Department of Transportation, operates DART First State. DART First State services include contracted SEPTA commuter trains, intercounty bus, fixed route bus, Paratransit, seasonal resort bus, commuter assistance, Operation Lifesaver rail crossing safety and trespasser awareness programs, and the RideShare Delaware ridematching program. DART First State provides more than 11,185,000 passenger trips annually, removing up to 7,034,591 vehicle trips from area roadways. In 2008, DART was recognized nationally with awards from the Federal Transit Administration for Enhancing Ridership programs and the American Public Transportation Association for first place in the annual Bus Roadeo.
