  • The Delaware State Police have identified the victim in a fatal accident in which a pedestrian was struck by a sports utility vehicle on eastbound Pulaski Highway (Rt. 40) in Newark this morning, Feb. 28.

  • The Delaware State Police have identified the victim in a fatal accident in which a pedestrian was struck by a sports utility vehicle on eastbound Pulaski Highway (Rt. 40) in Newark this morning, Feb. 28.
    The accident happened at LaGrange Avenue at about 5:50 a.m.
    The victim was Kenneth L. Aleshire, 20, of Seaford.
    Police said Riki L. Newman, 31, of Bear was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe in the right lane of eastbound Rt. 40 when the accident happened. Newman told police that a man suddenly entered the road from the south shoulder, and her vehicle struck him.
    Aleshire was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was turned over to the medical examiner’s office where an autopsy will be performed.
    Newman was not injured.
    The right lane of eastbound Rt. 40 was closed as the crash was investigated.
    This accident remains under investigation at this time.
