  • Suspect arrested in Smyrna-area robbery spree

  • The suspect in the string of robberies in the Smyrna area was arrested yesterday, March 15, at a home on Ronald Lane in the Glenwood neighborhood in Smyrna.

  • The suspect in the string of robberies in the Smyrna area was arrested yesterday, March 15, at a home on Ronald Lane in the Glenwood neighborhood in Smyrna.
    Delaware State Police, with the assistance of the Smyrna Police Department, and the Clayton Police Department arrested Larry J. Sartin, 30, in the case.
    On March 15, robbery detectives obtained information that Sartin was currently at a residence in the 300 block of Ronald Lane. State Police and officers from the Smyrna Police Department surrounded the residence until a search was done by the State Police Special Operations Response Team with the assistance of the Clayton Police Department.
    Sartin was found hiding in the attic of the residence by a Clayton Police Department officer and his K-9 partner.
    He was wanted for the following robberies:
    • March 9, Wawa on Rt. 13 at Paddock Road, just north Smyrna;
    • March 10, Wawa at 2800 N. Dupont Highway, Dover;
    • March 10, Shore Stop, 4298 Dupont Parkway, south of Townsend;
    • March 10, Wawa on Rt. 13 at Paddock Road, just north of Smyrna.
    • March 12, robbery of a pizza delivery driver, in the 800 block West Mt. Vernon Street, Smyrna;
    • March 12, the Valero-Shore Stop gas station on Rt. 13 at Glenwood Avenue in Smyrna.
    Sartin was arrested and charged with six countys of first-degree robbery, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and aggravated menacing. He was arraigned at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas and then committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution for lack of $225,000 cash bail.
