Smyrna-Clayton Big League baseball team wins District I title

Smyrna-Clayton Little League’s Big League baseball team won the District I championship Sunday in Smyrna by the score of 3-2 over Milford. This was the Big League team’s first district title since 1999.

Pitcher Derek Knight struck out six in the complete-game victory, as Smyrna-Clayton finished the season with a 10-4 record.

At the plate for Smyrna-Clayton, Mat Fabi went 3-for-4 with 1 RBI, Gary Everage was 2-for-4 with 1 RBI, and Caleb Cannon, Dustin Warren, and Derek Knight had one hit each.
