Paulena C. “Polly” O’Neal of Clayton, DE, passed away at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE on Tuesday, January 24, 2012. She was 83.
Mrs. O’Neal was born January 7, 1929 in Clayton, the daughter of the late Henry and Anna Coverdale.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed crafting. She was a very good artist who had a talent for drawing and painting. Polly loved life and most of all enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and family.
Polly was a lifetime member of the Clayton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Post 8801 Ladies Auxiliary of Smyrna. She was a long-time member of St. Polycarp’s Parish in Smyrna.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Rodney "Jake" O'Neal Sr. in 1998; a son, Michael Joseph O'Neal; and a granddaughter, Laura Annwin Lloyd.
She is survived by two sons, Benny O’Neal and his wife Bonnie of Smyrna and Rod O’Neal and his wife Kathy of Hartly, DE; three daughters, Lisa Lloyd and her husband Mark of Dover, Beth Pandel and her husband Brent of Felton, DE, and Kate Jackson and her husband Bryan of Sudlersville, MD; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, Ned Coverdale.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 1 p.m., in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Galena Cemetery in Galena, MD.
