  • Joseph “Joe” H. Kaczmarski, of Smyrna, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2012. He was 70.

  • Joseph “Joe” H. Kaczmarski, of Smyrna, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2012. He was 70.
    He was born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y., and graduated from Frontier High School, near Buffalo. He was a career enlisted medic in the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. He retired from service in 1981. He was an avid collector and a car enthusiast, and was a big fan of Elvis and Frank Sinatra.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Helen Kaczmarski; his in-laws, Bernard and Katherine Morman; his brother, Walter “Wally” Kaczmarski; his brother-in-law Gene Schrubb; his sister-in-law Deborah Kaczmarski; and his nephew Gregory Kaczmarski.
    He is survived by his  wife of 49 years, Katherine (nee Morman) Kaczmarski; son, Robert (Sandy) Kaczmarski; daughter, Karen (Wayne Bonnett) Kaczmarski; daughter, Tracy (Mark)  Judd; grandchildren, Andrew and Brent Kaczmarski; sisters, Joan (late Gene) Schrubb, Margaret (Joseph) Terrizzi, Patricia (Ed) Darling; brothers, Paul (late Deborah) Kaczmarski and David (Debbie) Kaczmarski; a brother-in-law, Wilson (Sue) Morman; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Pete) Varanko; numerous nieces, nephews and friends, and faithful dog, Tess.  Special thanks to all the wonderful staff at Courtland Manor Nursing Home and Delaware Hospice.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday, May 9 at 2 p.m., at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, Ransom Lane and South St., Smyrna. Friends may call from noon until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Smyrna.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the National MS Society, PO Box 4527, New York, NY 10163; the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way #205, New Castle, DE 19720; or to a charity of your choice.
