  • Restaurant employee robbed at gunpoint in Odessa

  • A 78-year-old employee of Hearth Restaurant in Odessa was robbed at gunpoint Aug. 8 as he was leaving with the business’ proceeds for the day.
    At 9:18 p.m. Wednesday, Delaware State Police said that an unknown man approached the male employee from behind as he began to open his car door.
    The suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his money, police said. He complied with the robber, who then began to remove money from the victim’s pockets.
    The suspect fled the restaurant towards Pleasant Hill Motel.
    The victim sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment, police said.
    Police said similar incident occurred July 31 but went unreported until this most recent one.
    Hearth Restaurant is located at 3147 DuPont Parkway in Odessa.
