Delaware State Police have charged a Clayton man with raping his nephew.
Police said the incidents occurred over a one year period starting when the victim was only 11-years-old with the last reported occurrence happening when he was 12-year-old; the victim is now 13. Carl Savin, 19, who is the victim’s uncle, would sexually assault the young boy whenever the victim and his family would visit relatives with whom Savin was residing, police said. The victim came forward to disclose this information to detectives on August 10 after informing a family friend about the unlawful acts with his uncle.
Detectives arrested and charged Savin Tuesday with 19 counts of second degree rape and seven counts of incest. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $478,500 secured bail.
