  • The Smyrna High School field hockey and volleyball team's kicked of their seasons Tuesday afternoon, both dropping their season openers.

    Field hockey lost to Sussex Tech 5-0. Their next match is Thursday, Sept. 13 at Indian River.
    Volleyball also lost to Sussex Tech 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 21-25, 19-25). The Eagles tied the match at 1-1 after winning the second game 25-22 but then dropped the third and fourth games to lose the match 3-1.
    Morgan Popovich had 15 kills, 1 ace, and 4 digs. Mackenzie Thomason had 1 kill and 17 assists. Raven Luckett had 9 kills, 2 aces, and 2 digs. The Eagles play again Thursday, Sept. 13 at Indian River.
