  • Smyrna football beats Laurel 33-9

  • The Smyrna High School football team improved to 2-1 on the season with their 33-9 win Friday over Laurel in the Eagles first away game of the season.
    Smyrna took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to a 50-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jordan Kiger to running back Maurice McFolling. Kiger also ran for a 33-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
    McFolling scored again in the second and third quarters with a 36-yard and 3-yard touchdown runs.
    The Eagles took a 27-3 lead going into the fourth quarter. Smyrna running back TeQuan Boyer added another six points to the Eagles score off a 3-yard touchdown run while Laurel finally scored a touchdown. The game ended with a 33-9 victory for Smyrna.
    Next up for the Eagles is another home game this Friday against Dover High School at 7:30 p.m.
