  • Smyrna men arrested following methamphetamine investigation

  • Two Smyrna men were arrested yesterday following the conclusion of a methamphetamine investigation by members of the Kent County Drug Unit and Smyrna Police Department.
    George Taylor, 38, and Richard Taylor, 30, of Hawkey Branch Road in Smyrna, were arrested as a result of the investigation, police said.
    Members of KDU, Smyrna PD, DNREC, GTF, SORT, EDU and the Little Creek Fire Department executed a search warrant at 611 Hawkey Branch Road in Smyrna. George Taylor was taken into custody without incident.
    A search of the residence revealed items used to make methamphetamine. This included bottles with meth product remains, sulfuric acid, lithium wrappers, plastic tubes and Coleman Fuel. There was also approximately .4 gram of finished meth located in George Taylor's bedroom.
    Richard Taylor was already charged by Smyrna PD on Sunday after he was contacted during a traffic stop with Coleman Fuel, Lithium batteries and boxes of Pseudoephedrine. Richard Taylor is currently being held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center.
    George Taylor was charged with manufacturing meth, conspiracy second degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail is pending at this time.
