Blackbird Creek Reserve, 801 Blackbird Landing Road, Townsend, is inviting volunteers to take part in a tree planting event from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 27.
More than 300 trees are expected to be planted on this day. Native seedling trees such as willow oak, red cedar, river birch, and red maple to name of few will be planted along a stream that feeds into Blackbird Creek. Over the past five years, more than 7,000 trees have been planted at the reserve.
Equipment will be provided and volunteers are encouraged to wear boots or other work shoes, heavy duty gloves, hats, and bring insect repellent and sunscreen. For more information, call (302) 739-3436.
