Paul Joseph Kiernen of Smyrna, DE passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 16, 2012.
He was 79.
Mr. Kiernan was born July 18, 1933 in Newark, NJ, the son of the late Frances and Lucy Kiernan.
He served his country with honors in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.
Paul worked for many years in the insurance industry as a Loss Control Prevention Engineer.
He enjoyed playing his guitar, camping, spending time with his family, and tinkering with projects.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jay and Frank Kiernan, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Beverly; 3 sons, Matthew of Smyrna, Paul and his wife Karen of Marietta, GA, and Ryan of Palmerton, PA; 3 daughters, Lucy Blood of Smyrna, Jeanne Bach and her husband Robert of Smyrna, and Ruth Pickering and her husband William of Raleigh, NC; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Lou Kiernan.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 12 noon in St. Polycarps Roman Catholic Church, located at 135 Ransom Lane in Smyrna.
Burial will be held at 2 pm in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.
