• Newark teens arrested in Smyrna on drug charges

  • Two Newark teens were arrested Wednesday on drug charges following a routine traffic stop.
    Smyrna Police stopped a vehicle Wednesday at approximately noon for unreasonable speed on Route 13 at East North Street. Upon making contact with the occupants, the officer smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a bag containing 1,423 Oxycodone pills with an estimated street value of approximately $28,000.
    Bruce E. Saunders Jr., 19, of Newark, was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy second degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and unreasonable speed.
    Saunders was processed at the Smyrna Police Department and later presented at Justice of the Peace Court 8 where he was released on a $6,800 unsecured bond.
    Seth Daquan, 19, of Newark, was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy second degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
    Daquan was presented at Justice of the Peace Court 8 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Jr. Correctional Center in default of a $6,500 secured bond.
