Smyrna Police are searching for an armed attacker involved in last night's shooting in the unit block of Summer Drive.
Police responded to the scene at 7:43 p.m. in reference to a resident who had been shot with a handgun. The victim was assaulted at his home while answering his front door by an unknown male assailant, police said Thursday afternoon.
Officers were able to secure the scene and conducted a search of the area for an armed male wearing dark clothing, no further description. A K9 track and helicopter fly over were also conducted shortly after the call was received.
It was originally reported that there were two suspects who fled the scene, but Chief Wil Bordley said the victim states there was one shooter and not two as previously reported.
Bordley also said there is no connection between last night's shooting and the Nov. 2 shooting in the 100 block of Summer Drive.
The victim is in stable condition, Bordley said.

The Smyrna Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 100 block of Summer Drive at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday night.
Police Chief Wil Bordley said a male victim was shot twice and taken to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover.
At this time, he said police believe there are two male suspects involved. Nationality of the suspects and their direction of travel following the incident are unknown.
Bordley said the case is still under investigation.
