  • Smyrna JV boys basketball 5-0 going into Lake Forest game Thursday

  • The Smyrna High School boys junior varsity basketball team is 5-0 in the first few weeks of the season.
    Coming off wins against Cape Henlopen, Seaford and Sussex Central, the JV team defeated CR Friday 61-45. They were led by Greg Duggans with 18 points, Donte Ritchie with 15 points and Charlie Taylor with 10 points, 3 assists, and 5 steals.
    With a record of 4-0, the Eagles played Tuesday against fellow unbeaten team Sussex tech. The Eagles were down at the half 20-18 after a sluggish start. Smyrna picked it up in the second half for the win beating Sussex Tech 51-32 and improving to 5-0 on the season.
    The Eagles were led by Latrelle Lee who had 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. Ritchie added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Jameir Sudler had a strong defensive effort with 5 rebounds and 5 steals.
    Next up for the Eagles will be a home game against Lake Forest on Thursday, Dec. 20 at 6 p.m.
