The undefeated Smyrna High School girls basketball team soared past Laurel Thursday night, 71-17, to improve to 7-0 on the season.
The Eagles jumped out to a 14-1 lead after the quarter, and extended the margin to 31-11 at halftime. But their best was yet to come. In the third quarter, Smyrna outscored the Bulldogs 35-4 for a 66-15 edge.
Kamerra Matthews led the Eagles with 22 points and 18 rebounds, while Brionna Johnson also posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Other top scorers for Smyrna were Taylor Price with 11, Alyson Davis with 7, Alexus Stroud with 6, Shi Hilliard with 3, and Donye Gilbert with 2.
Davis and Johnson each hit 3-pointers for the Eagles.
