  • Delaware State Police detectives are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect who stole a truck and then attempted to use the truck to steal tires.
Police said the incident occurred on January 1 at 11:30 p.m. when a concerned citizen noticed the white male suspect removing tires from the parking lot of the BP gas station at 3622 South DuPont Parkway in Townsend, and loading the tires into a pickup truck.
The citizen confronted the suspect and took a picture of him, causing the suspect to run away, abandoning the vehicle. Troopers later determined that the truck had been stolen from a nearby tow yard that same evening.
Police said the suspect is described as being a white male in his late teens to early 20s, with dark color hair, and was last seen wearing a black jacket with white writing on the left chest area, and a gray hooded sweatshirt.
To offer information in reference to this incident, the public is asked to contact detectives at Troop 2 at (302) 834-2630 extension 285, or Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333. Information may also be provided via the internet at www.tipsubmit.com.
