There's a time to play and a time to be serious. The moment Kathleen Madigan hits the stage at The Grand in Wilmington on Friday — it'll undoubtedly be a time for playing.
Madigan and her sarcastic commentary on everyday life will return to The Grand for the first time since her standout performance in 2011.
Her accessible, unpretentious style and hilarious stories about her relatives have earned her a devoted and growing following. Madigan's stand-up routine has received high praise from acclaimed comedian Lewis Black who dubbed Madigan "the funniest woman in America."
And Black might be on to something. Madigan's the only comedian in the history of NBC's "Last Comic Standing" to go unchallenged by any other comic — meaning no other comedian would say they were funnier than her. She was a finalist in season two of "Last Comic Standing" and a judge on season five.
In her two decades in the business, Madigan's credits continue to impress. She's appeared on numerous talk shows including "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Show with David Letterman," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and every other late night show that's come and gone. She's even shared the stage with legendary comics Robin Williams and Black, as well as a number of other respected comedians.
