The Smyrna Opera House seeks young talent for upcoming competition.

The Smyrna Opera House will hold open auditions for its vocal talent competition, "Smyrna's Got Voice: Kids Rock," on Friday.

David Keller, executive director of the Smyrna Opera House, notes "This is a great opportunity for kids, between the ages of 10 to 18, who have singing talent to showcase their vocal chops. We are basing our event on the hugely popular "American Idol" TV show and are hoping to get a lot of children to audition this year."

The auditions will be juried and the selected contestants will compete on opening night, Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. Audience members will play a key role in the event as they'll decide who moves on to the next round. Round two will start on Saturday, March. 23 at 7 p.m., and finalists will compete for a cash prize during the finale, scheduled for Saturday, April 27 at 7 p.m.
