The Smyrna High School JV boys basketball team overcame a slow start Saturday in front of a home crowd to defeat Newark by a score of 54-36.

The win improved the JV team to 10-1 on the season.

The Eagles were led by Timer Garnett with 14 points, all of which were scored in the fourth quarter of the game. Latrelle Lee contributed 12 points and 8 rebounds.

Next up for Smyrna is a match at Polytech today, Jan. 29. The game starts at 4 p.m.
