  • Traffic stop in Smyrna nets 5 on drug charges

  • Smyrna Police were patrolling the area of Locust and Frazier streets Jan. 12 at 7:33 p.m. when they observed a vehicle run a stop sign.
    The officer stopped the vehicle in the Wendy's parking lot. Police said officers performed a search of the vehicle, and recovered suspected marijuana and a 9mm handgun.
    Damian A. Legrand, 26, of Smyrna, was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, conspiracy 2nd degree, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest. Legrand was presented at Justice of the Peace Court No. 7 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correction Center in defaults of $13,000 secured bond.
    Janae L. Gibson, 25, of Dover, was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, conspiracy 2nd degree, possession of marijuana, fail to stop at a stop sign and fail to signal. Gibson was presented at Justice of the Peace Court No. 7 and released on a $1,600 secured bond.
    Paul J. Smith, 23, of Camden, was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, conspiracy 2nd degree, possession of marijuana and criminal impersonation. Smith was presented at Justice of the Peace Court No. 7 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of a $13,500 secured bond.
    Devin T. Hicks, 22, of Harrington, was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, conspiracy 2nd degree and possession of marijuana. Hicks was presented at Justice of the Peace Court No. 7 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of a $6,000 secured bond.
    Dwahn Hooks, 21, of Milford, was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, conspiracy 2nd degree and possession of marijuana. Hooks was presented at Justice of the Peace Court No. 7 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of a $12,500 secured bond.
