  • UPDATE: Wilmington woman arrested for involvement with hotel robberies

    Delaware State Police have arrested Dominique Coleman, 22, of Wilmington, due to her alleged involvement in the robbery of two Newark motel patrons.
    Police said Coleman allegedly conspired with Kevin M. Abbott, 26, of Wilmington, to rob two women at the Econo Lodge, 100 McIntosh Plaza, during the early morning of Jan. 26.
    Abbott was arrested on Jan. 28 for his alleged involvement with two separate incidents where motel patrols were robbed at Newark motels. Abbott was also arrested by Smyrna Police for a robbery at a Smyrna hotel, also in the early morning hours of Jan. 26, police said.
    Coleman was arrested on Feb. 5 after meeting robbery detectives at Troop 1, and charged with two counts of robbery first degree, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and conspiracy second degree.

    Delaware State Police have arrested Kevin M. Abbott, 26, of Wilmington due to his alleged involvement in two separate of motel patrons in Newark.
    Police said both incidents occurred during the early morning of Jan. 26 after Abbott allegedly contacted his victims through a website. After meeting his victims at motels, police said Abbott robbed them at gunpoint.
    The first incident took place at about 1 a.m. at the Comfort Inn on Concord Lane in Newark; the victim was a 22-year-old female.
    The second incident took place at about 1:45 a.m. at the Econo Lodge in the McIntosh Plaza in Newark; the victims were an 18-year-old female and a 19-year-old female.
    Troopers were able to link Abbott to both robberies, and on Monday arrested Abbott at his home in Wilmington. Abbott was charged with three counts of robbery first degree, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, and one count of conspiracy second degree. Abbott was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute on $157,000 cash bail.

    A Wilmington man has been arrested in connection for allegedly robbing a Smyrna hotel in the early hours of Saturday morning.
    Following an investigation into a robbery that occurred Saturday at approximately 2:40 a.m. at the Smyrna Best Western off of Route 13, Smyrna Police have arrested Kevin M. Abbott, 26, of Wilmington, police said.
    Abbott was charged with two counts of robbery 1st degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm and conspiracy 2nd degree.
    Page 2 of 2 - Abbott was presented at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institute in default of a $98,500 cash only bond.
