A four-year varsity player, senior Johnson was 17 points away from the feat going into Tuesday's win. She finished the game with 19 points, and now stands at 1,002 points as an Eagle with more games left to play.
Johnson, 17, said coming into the season she knew 1,000 points was within her reach and it feels good to finally reach it.
"I feel good because it's three and a half years of hard work and it feels like it paid off," Johnson said.
Reaching 1,000 points was a personal goal and a good achievement, Johnson said. When she made the basket and realized what she had just done, Johnson said she even cried a little bit.
Coming into Tuesday night's game, Johnson said she knew she was close to her goal and was even a little nervous.
"I was relieved and really emotional," Johnson said. "It feels like a big load off my shoulders, it's good."
With such a milestone behind her, Johnson is ready to win some more as the 14-1 Eagles still have five games left in the regular season with the state tournament starting at the end of the month. And the Eagles are excited for what the future holds.
"We're excited, but we're more excited for the postseason. Our goal is to win conferences and play well in the tournament," Johnson said. "Our main goal is to win the state championship."
