  • Smyrna JV boys basketball edges Sallies 28-27

  • The Smyrna High School JV boys basketball team narrowly defeated Salesianum last night 28-27 in overtime in front of a home crowd.
    The Eagles were led by Timer Garnett with 7 points and Donte Ritchie with 6 points and 14 rebounds. Jerry Williams had a strong rebounding performance with 9.
    The JV squad notched another win even with another loss of a player to varsity. Freshman Charlie Taylor was moved up to varsity just a few days after teammate Latrelle Lee.
    Smyrna improved to 14-1 on the season with the win.
    Next up is a home game Saturday against Cape Henlopen at 5 p.m. The team is also home on Monday versus St. Andrews at 5:30 p.m. Monday's game is Smyrna basketball's "PINK" event for cancer.
