The Smyrna Opera House will kickoff its dessert theater production "Where There's a Will There's a Relative" by Roger Karshner in the historic B. Stimson Carrow auditorium on March 1.
Sam Price has passed away and his relatives gather at his residence to mourn. Eventually all the praise for him turns to greed as the family discusses their supposed inheritance. The poor man is lying in repose at his humble abode while all of this is going on around him. Will his family be able to get their way? How far will they go to accomplish their goals? What will happen when they try to outsmart each other? All will eventually be revealed in this hilarious production!
The comedy will run through March 3. The Friday and Saturday night performances will begin at 7:30 p.m., while the Sunday show is a 2:30 p.m. matinee. Directed by Pat Musto, the actors include: Jerry Cox, Gale White, Sean Ervin, Debbie Simmons, Steve Caporiccio and Maureen Levine.
Musto notes, "It has been a real pleasure working with this cast – what a talented group! They truly have turned into a 'family'. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching their metamorphosis into their characters. They are really looking forward to the experience and presenting this comedy to the patrons of the Smyrna Opera House."
Those in attendance can enjoy desserts afterwards while mingling with the cast and crew. Desserts will be generously provided by the Smyrna Opera House Guild. The event is presented through special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
This program is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and by donations from a broad base of public agencies, corporations and individual supporters.
