  • Police arrest Smyrna fugitive on drug charges

  • Smyrna Police arrested a Smyrna fugitive Thursday night after noticing the man walking in the area of Route 13 and South Street.
    Police said the officer noticed the man around 9:40 p.m. and knowing that the man was a local fugitive, asked him to stop.
    The man was placed under arrest and a search revealed suspected marijuana and heroin, police said.
    Jeremy D. Jewell, 18, of North Fairfield Drive in Smyrna, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
    Police said Jewell was presented via videophone at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was released on a $100 unsecured bond pending a later court appearance.
