The Eagles win over Cape came in the final seconds as the Vikings tied the game at 42-42 with 20 seconds left in the game. Smyrna ran the clock down and with just 4 seconds left and Timer Garnett open in the corner, Boaz Menard passed the ball to Garnett who hit the three-pointer for the 45-42 win.
Smyrna was led by Donte Ritchie with 8 points and 4 steals, Vincent Jubilee with 7 points and 5 rebounds, and Garnett with 7 points. Garnett also put on a great defensive effort by shutting down Cape's best player, Ryan Thornburg, to just 4 points.
The Eagles followed up Friday's nail-biter with a dominating 46-26 victory over St. Andrews on Monday. Monday's games were part of Smyrna High's "PINK" event to raise money for cancer awareness.
With the loss of two players to varsity, coach Dontay Black said the team is starting to adjust without them making their defense their offense.
Smyrna was led by Timer Garnett with 14 points and 5 steals, Aaron Wilson with 9 points and 7 rebounds, and Jameir Sudler with 8 points.
Next up for the Eagles is their final home game of the season tonight, Feb. 13, versus Sussex Central at 6 p.m.
