  • One of the biggest community events in the Smyrna-Clayton area will be held Saturday – the 14th annual "I Love Smyrna School District Day" at Smyrna High School.
    I Love Smyrna School District Day, attended by more than 5,000 people throughout the course of the event, offers fun and information for all ages. The event will feature 40-plus community organizations and include free refreshments, mini concerts by Smyrna and Clayton students (from kindergarteners to 12th graders) face painting, pottery wheel demonstrations, ice cream making and jewelry making. There will also be an appearance from Ronald McDonald, educational displays, and awards for essay winners and community leaders.
    This year's honoree will be Smyrna High School alum Michael Scuse, of Smyrna, who serves as the United States Department of Agriculture's undersecretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services (FFAS).
