  • Smyrna Town Council meets tonight, March 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall.
    Smyrna Town Hall is located at 27 S. Market St. Plaza.
    The following items are under "Old Business" on the agenda:
    *Consideration and vote of establishing a new standing committee to seek appropriate benchmark salary information from other sources in order to match up appropriate salaries with jobs in the Town of Smyrna
    *Possible reconsideration of demolition of 431-437 Smyrna-Clayton Boulevard
    *Recommendation from Finance Committee in support of Craft Beer, Wine and Food Festival - request from Joe and Shirley Sheridan
    The following items are under "New Business" on the agenda:
    *Request from Ducks Unlimited Quack Pack to serve beer and wine at their fundraising event at Lake Como
    *Consideration and possible vote on 2013 addition to tax bills resolution
    *Consideration and possible vote to approve posting of assessment list (remove 'books')
    *Certify list of candidates for April 30 election
    *Consideration, discussion, and possible vote on PNC Borrowing Resolution - Resolution authorizing the borrowing of up to $4,000,000 in the form of a non-revolving line of credit from PNC Bank, National Association to provide interim funding for the renovation and expansion of the Town of Smyrna Police Department Building; pledging the full faith, credit and taxing power of the Town for the note; providing for the sale of the note to PNC Bank, National Association, as purchaser; and authorizing other necessary action
    *Consideration and possible vote to set the date for property tax assessment appeals
    *Swearing-in of Board of Assessment members
    Council will also go into Executive Session for the purposes of (a) discussing personnel matters involving non-union employee(s) in which the names, competency, and abilities of individual employee(s) will be discussed; and (b) holding a strategy session for collective bargaining where an open meeting would have an adverse effect on the bargaining position of the town.
