A handful of holiday-themed activities will be hatched in the third annual “EggsCiting Easter” event at Belmont Hall on Sunday.
“EggsCiting Easter,” presented by the Friends of Belmont Hall, features activities kids will be eager to hop on, of which most are race-based games, including a sack race; a spoon-race relay (use a wooden spoon to roll a plastic egg across the finish line); a bean-bag toss (aim bean bags through holes carved into an egg-shaped sign or toss the bags into baskets on the ground); a carrot toss (throw a carrot to your buddy then take one step back; see how far you can go back without dropping the carrot); and then there’s the legendary egg hunt.
Kids can also nibble on Easter-themed treats like bunny-shaped marshmallows, carrots and bunny-shaped crackers that are similar to Teddy Grahams, however these little goodies are like “Bunny Grahams,” quipped Susan Wolfe, of Smyrna, the president of the Friends of Belmont Hall.
“The kids have been excited and seem to have a really good time, and their parents have a really good time,” Wolfe said of the reaction guests have had at previous “EggsCiting Easter” events.
Wolfe has relied on her experience as a former museum manager for the Marietta House Museum in Glenn Dale, Md., to help her come up with colorful activities for the event, she said.
“I worked for many years as a museum manager,” she said. “A large part of my job was planning special events and having the events revolving around a theme.”
