A Smyrna woman and a Marydel man are facing marijuana charges after a traffic stop in Smyrna April 1.
At 9:52 p.m., Smyrna Police stopped a vehicle on Wheatley's Pond Road for a traffic violation.
While talking with the driver, the police officer could smell suspected marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed suspected marijuana in a bag stuffed between the front seats.
A check of the passenger revealed that he was hiding a small bag of suspected marijuana in his mouth.
The occupants were taken to the Smyrna Police Department where they were processed and charged.
The driver, Karen M. Council, 33, of Alley Corner Road, Smyrna, was charged with conspiracy third degree, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
John K. Spencer, 35, of Arthursville Road, Marydel, was charged with conspiracy third degree, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
Each suspect was released on a criminal summons to appear at court on a later date.
