The Smyrna Police Department is requesting assistance in locating Monique Aisha Brown, 28, and her son who is 4 or 5 years old. (See photos with this story.)
Brown was last seen at her workplace on Friday, April 19 at 10 a.m., when she left for a doctor's visit for her son. According to a co-worker, Brown was supposedly leaving for New York City to visit friends for the weekend, but has not been seen or heard from since.
Police talked with the paternal grandmother of Brown's son, with whom they were living in Smyrna, and the grandmother provided inconsistent information as to Brown's whereabouts and even about knowing Brown.
At this time Brown's disappearance is deemed suspicious, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information about this case to the Smyrna Police Department, (302) 653-9217.
