Andrew L. Jackson, age 69, of Smyrna, DE, passed away on April 10, 2013 at home.
Andy was born in Maryland on February 25, 1944, the son of the late B. Julian and Mary B. Jackson.
He proudly served his country with honors in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Andy worked as a Chemical Operator for Reichhold Chemical Company for 35 years before his retirement.
He enjoyed spoiling his 2 dogs, Rusty and Princess. He was an avid collector and a late night Waffle House regular. Mr. Jackson was known as the "adopted father" of his neighborhood.
In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by 2 sisters; and one brother.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Mary Lou Jackson of Dover, DE and Amy L. O'Roark of Texas; 3 sisters, Cheryl Jackson of Clayton, DE, Beatrice Matick of New Jersey, and Gwendolyn Foraker of Hartly, DE; 2 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his long-time friend, Francine Williams.
A memorial service will be held at the Smyrna VFW Post #8801 at a later date.
Burial will be privately held.
