  • Dozens of kindergartners from Clayton Elementary School spent Thursday morning learning about agriculture at Middletown High School’s third-annual Ag Day.
The youngsters visited ten learning stations manned by members of Middletown High’s Future Farmers of America club, who led the children in games, activities and hands-on lessons in animal husbandry, crops, biomes, aquaculture, animal by-products and other agriculture-related subjects.
The kindergarteners also got to visit with pigs, sheep, goats and rabbits at an outdoor petting zoo.
Cheryl Vest, an agri-science teacher and FFA advisor at the high school, said about 50 students helped to set up, organize and present the lessons at Ag Day.
A similar program also held for Green Acres Preschool and Childcare in Odessa on Wednesday.
