  • Town of Smyrna sets up dates for voter registration

  • Since the Town of Smyrna will be having a special election to fill an open at-large left vacant as a result of the April 30 election, the town will offer more days for voters to register.
    The open at-large seat is for a one-year term; the seat was left vacant by Joanne Masten who won her bid for mayor in the election. Masten had one year left of a three-year term in her at-large seat.
    The special election will be Monday, June 25. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Citizens' Hose Company.
    Voter registration dates
    Residents can register to vote Wednesday, May 22 and Wednesday, May 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Citizens' Hose Company on West Commerce Street.
    Residents can also register Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and Saturday, June 8 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Smyrna Town Hall.
    Residents may also register in person at the Town Hall weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Voter Registration closes on Tuesday, June 11 at 4:00 p.m.
    Registration is also available in person at The Department of Elections for Kent County located at 100 Enterprise Place Suite 5, Dover, Delaware or online at www.registertovote.org.
